What is commuting.in Chicago?

commuting.in pulls the live bus tracking information from the chicago transit authority and automagically shows you your favorite stops at your commute times. No need to choose your route & stop each time you need to catch the bus. You can also add favorites or search for any CTA bus route when you're about town.

Wait, is this just like the bus-tracker the CTA provides but with magic and prowess?

Exactly. Chances are, If you commute, you ride the same bus every day. You catch it at one stop in the morning to get to work and another in the evening to get home. So, you set up an account and tell commuting.in WHEN & WHERE you usually catch the bus. That's when the magic happens. Every time you come back to commuting.in it automatically tells you when the next bus will be at your stop - the stop you care about at that moment. MAGIC!

We call those "TIME WINDOWS". You can set up any number of time windows to match your commutes.

You also get a rad interface to the same real-time info that you can get at ctabustracker.com. It's even easier to read on your iPhone. Even if you don't have an iPhone, commuting.in can be a handy bookmark on any mobile device or even on your desktop to check before you head out on your daily commute.

Sure, your commute is a big deal, but most people have certain busses they take almost every week. Whether it's to and from the Library or your favorite bar. For times like these you can save bus stops as FAVORITES, essentially bookmarking them for easy accessibility at any time! 2 clicks & you've got bus times at your favorite stop, even though it isn't your typical commute or in one of your time windows! That's pretty awesome. "OMG, I want to join!!""
